As per last Friday’s post, before launching back into Skyrim modding I think I should have played Skyrim less than a few years ago. To give me a reason to do that, I am starting on a quest to get every Steam achievement in the Special Edition as fast as possible, a sort of completionist speedrun.
This isn’t going to be a “true” speedrun as the people who are really into such things would consider it, but eh, it’s good enough for me. For a start, in order to get this done really fast indeed I will definitely be 100% cheating massively by using developer commands to skip anything remotely approaching a challenge. Instead of timing it by using Steam’s “time played” statistic, it was pointed out to me that Skyrim actually records a time played for each save file. This will avoid speedrun disasters such as forgetting I shouldn’t just alt-tab when getting up to do stuff like make a cup of tea.
I previously posted some minor tips for being good at Skyrim, chief of which was “be an Orc”. Not one to break my own rules, one introductory prison transport ride later, we can meet our incredibly swift Dragonborn, future hero of Skyrim and current prisoner: Orc Orcersson.
Immediately after introducing himself, poor Orc is sadly executed for his crimes. Speedrun over!

Achievement Progress: 0/75
Wait, that doesn’t seem right. Oh, whoops! I nearly forgot the execution was interrupted by a dragon. Orc lives, and not only that managed to escape a mighty dragon too. Hmmm, what are we, level 1? That doesn’t seem right for such an obviously accomplished hero.
Much better. Now we’re over level 50 and nearly maxed in all the important skills. That got all 5 level and skill related achievements. One laughably easy starter dungeon and we’re also accoladed for that feat, and a short jog down a path nets us the achievement for using a standing stone. The “Skill increased” popup kept going the entire time. I think I’ll be hearing it constantly for the first ten minutes of the next session too. I’m making real sacrifices for this, you guys.
Time Elapsed: 0hr 37m
Achievement Progress: 7/75
A great start!
